Languages

Your site in other languages: each page at its own address (/fr/, /zh-Hans/ …), translated once and kept. Your own pages stay in English at their usual address.

No translation service is set up yet. Pages in other languages show English until one is. Add a DeepL, Google, OpenAI or Gemini key on the Translation services tab.

What to translate

The whole page: menus, titles, sidebars and footer as well as the text of posts and pages

Untick to translate only the main text of posts and pages (for themes that translate their own menus and footer).

Language picker

Show a language picker in the corner of every page

To place it yourself instead, put [doctorx_languages_switcher] in a page, menu text or widget (style="links" for a list of links), or call doctorx_languages_switcher() in your theme.

Visitor’s own language

On a first visit to an English page, take visitors whose browser prefers one of your languages to that language

Once a visitor picks a language in the picker, their choice wins.

Posts in other languages

Offer a "Written in" box on posts, for posts you write directly in another language

Such a post lives at its language’s address only, is never machine-translated, and is listed with that language’s posts.

Refresh language addresses Only needed if a language address shows "page not found".
